A lot of things come and go. We buy them, we use them then the next thing we know, it’s in the disposal bin like disposable diapers, disposable plates, or even disposable underwear. Clearly, disposability has appealed to many consumers primarily because of convenience. The use-dispose-forget cycle is clearly an advantage that is well-known to a lot of people. Users of contact lenses are of course, no exclusion to this. Contact lenses come in a variety of forms and kinds. Daily disposable contact lenses, as the name implies are convenient in a sense that one buys them, uses them throughout the day, then disposes them properly. This type of contact lens is made with high-quality but low-priced items, hence making a pair less of a load for the consumers’ pocket. Now why does one really need to throw out contact lenses after using? Basically, it’s because of the wear-and-tear principle that applies to most of things. When one uses his/her contact lens, certain components of the tears in the eyes get in contact with the lenses. This causes certain proteins and substances to get lodged onto the lenses. Several chemical reactions may occur as the user wears it throughout the day. Since the materials used in the making of disposable lenses are not made for endurance, proteins may somehow disrupt or destroy the integrity of the contacts, making it ineffective for reuse. Another thing that we need to consider is that certain chemicals in the lenses, when used repeatedly may irritate the membrane of the eyes. It may cause eye infections and may even worsen existing eye problems. Keeping this in mind, one must comply with the given time that it is recommended for usage and the timely disposal of it. People with existing eye allergies or those with eyes that are hypersensitive to substances are prescribed daily disposable contact lenses as these minimize the risks of triggering any unwanted reactions that are sometimes associated with constant reusing of traditional or reusable contact lenses. Users who find reusing their contact lenses a hassle are also recommended to use this type of contact lenses. In the view of the fact that it is made with cheap material, the price is low enough for average bracket users. Daily Disposal Contact lenses are beneficial for a lot of people. The trouble of cleaning, rubbing and disinfecting contact lenses is also eliminated. Once you throw it, you forget about it, just make sure you throw it in the proper place. A common misconception is that disposable contacts are so much expensive compared to reusable ones. This is somewhat compensated by not buying disinfecting materials needed for reusable contacts. The expense for contact lens cleaning services is also nullified thus making disposable contact lenses more money saving in the long run. Whether to wear disposable lenses or not depends primarily upon the user’s judgment. Whichever one chooses, as long as he/she finds it affordable, comfortable and is confident in using it, then there is nothing wrong with it. |
